Tom has an extensive background in helping organizations develop and implement Lean Manufacturing principles within a variety of production settings. Tom has served in management positions with United Technologies, Pratt & Whitney, where he was a operations Business Unit Manager, and Site Manager responsible for implementing Lean Manufacturing in both the supplier base and internal business Units.
Over the past 25 years, Tom has been featured in several articles and seminars on the subject of Lean Manufacturing implementation. Tom has also studied Lean Principles in the United States and Japan with the originators of the Toyota Production System and has facilitated numerous improvement workshops in the United States, South America, Europe, Mexico, Middle East and Central America.
Tom applies the disciplined approach and analytic tools taught to him during his 16 year tenure with the Shingijutsu consulting group, who are considered 2nd tier consultants, and students of the father of the Toyota Production System, Taiichi Ohno. These tools are designed to identify specific opportunities for organizations to improve operations, set strategic vision and achieve corporate goals.
Tom has extensive experience in pre buy operational assessments for PE groups, operational excellence deployment, factory and process re-engineering, developing KPOs, facilitating “Lean Implementation” workshops and events. His extensive experience implementing lean manufacturing tools and techniques, coupled with his machining and engineering background have been a plus in developing positive working relationships throughout various manufacturing and service industry client constituents.
Currently a principal partner in Lean Value Solutions International, he has built a successful practice over the past 15 years by leading several organizations to a lean enterprise implementation strategy. Tom was also instrumental in forging relationships with other providers which assist in bringing his clients the latest in technology in terms of operational shop floor analytics, which assist in accelerating the Lean improvement efforts. One of his most proudest moments was that LVSI now has one of the original founding members of the Shingijutsu consulting group, Sensei Akira Takenaka, as a Lean Value Solutions senior consultant.
